Memories

I am currently helping my mom put the finishing touches on her memoirs. She is planning on publishing them and as 75th birthday party we are throwing her a big book signing party. So of course I have been forced to relive memories from my and my siblings past. Mom wants to do a page per child of cute little stories of each of us. We had the biggest problem with my older sister April. Most of the stories we remember of her will piss her off and she is not one that you really want to piss off (although she is most of the time). She's Lucy from Linus or Angila from the Rug Rats. A total control freak.

My favorite tale of her (I hope my mom decides to include this) is of a dinner time one night when April was only about six years old. Our oldest brother Fred was eight and he came to the dinner table with a riddle. Riddles, jokes or stories were always shared at dinner time so that was nothing unusual. Fred's riddle went like this; "What's long and thin and covered with skin and you don't know how many holes it's been in?" April freaked out and starting hitting Fred. "How dare you tell momma a dirty joke!" she screamed as she hit him. "WHAT! What are you talking about?" Fred asked "The answers 'A EARTHWORM!' "What's dirty about that?" We are still trying to figure out how April's mind came up with the obvious dirty answer. She's always been alittle warped. I love her just the same.

TGIF

It's Friday! Thank God! Of course I say this every week like almost everyone else in this nation. The problem with it is that it seems like it was Friday last week about two days ago. The weeks are flying by. When I was younger the days in the week dragged, especially when working. Now it doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, time just speeds by. I guess time is completely relative to the time you have been on this earth. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

So sad.

Such a sad week! My nephew tried to kill himself for the second time in two weeks. The first time he slit his wrists, but he was at home and his parents called 911 and they saved him. This time he went to a motel room and hung himself. The maid found him (thank god) and again 911 saved his life. He wants to die. His parents don't know what to do and I certainly don't know what to do.

He was always such a sweet loving person. He hates himself. I love him. Does anyone know what I could do to help this young man want to live. I know that he was jilted by a girl. We all have had our hearts broken but it is no reason to kill yourself.

HELP!!

Party

Last night friends of mine threw me a birthday party. It was a lasertag, glo golf, bumper car party. I love to have fun but I really love to see my friends having fun! We had free run of the whole place and although there were several children in the group, last night they were all children. I can't believe how lucky I am to have so many fun loving, young at heart friends.

What is old?

Today is my 51st birthday. I am 51 years young. At the age of 40 I decided that I had had enough of being old and decided to start calling it young. Overall I feel young except for a few aches and pains. Mentally I know I've gotten smarter and wiser but I still feel new. I guess because I have never stopped being amazed by nature and life itself. My moment of epiphany was when I realized how much I don't know! I still learn something new everyday and I know that even learning daily that I will never know it all!
